Discovering botanical dyeing opened up an inspiring way to bring together my passions for textiles, colour, gardens/landscapes, interiors, and sustainable making.
New Zealand grown and processed wool yarns - thread waste whenever possible - and raw European flax linen are slowly handwoven together, to create unique homewares full of colour, pattern and texture. All fibres are naturally dyed in the studio using plant materials either grown in the garden or foraged from wild plants growing locally - with the odd natural extract thrown in to push the colour palette further.
A background in Communication Design - BDes, Victoria University of Wellington, NZ, and more recently Landscape Design, blends design disciplines with a deep appreciation for natural materials and processes. My process is intuitive, experimental and organic, each piece is designed to be both beautiful and functional, and perfectly imperfect.
