Naturally dyed and handwoven textiles, from my garden studio.

Discovering botanical dyeing opened up an inspiring way to bring together my passions for colour, landscape, interiors, and sustainable making. I use undyed, New Zealand grown and processed wool - primarily thread waste whenever possible - paired with raw European flax linen yarns. All fibres are naturally dyed by me using plant materials either grown in my garden or foraged from wild plants growing locally, with the odd natural extract thrown in to modify.

My background in Communication Design (Bachelor of Design, Victoria University of Wellington, 1996) and more recently in Landscape Design (2019–present), blends design disciplines with a deep appreciation for natural materials and processes.

My process is intuitive and organic, probably a bit chaotic! I enjoy the experimental nature of dyeing and weaving - blending, layering, and letting the materials guide the outcome. Each piece is designed to be both beautiful and functional, and perfectly imperfect.

When I’m not immersed in dye baths or at the loom, I continue to work on landscape design projects. I enjoy the contrast between the structured precision of digital design and the tactile, intuitive flow of my Loom Studio work.
